New Headshots by Love by Serena

Happy Thanksgiving week, everyone!

I'm sure I am not the only one who is doing a little life reflection this week and thinking about what I am most thankful for. After the busiest fall, I am finally getting away on "vacation" this week to celebrate Thanksgiving early (because my husband and I actually both return to work on Friday.) I say "vacation" in quotes because as I sit here on "vacation," I'm still creating, my mind is still churning with ideas for the next event, I'm still catching up on emails, developing winter wedding timelines, and still writing this blog post! Entrepreneur life, right? Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining.

My event planning work isn't really something I have ever wanted to "get away" from; rather, I think about it every day because it excites and consistently motivates and inspires me. I am so thankful to have found a career I feel so strongly about as I know not everyone is so fortunate. But, this week, as I spend rare quality time with my husband and sweet in-laws, I am going to be extra thankful for these few meaningful days and am also going to be mindful to be more fully present and engaged with my family. Because, while I am 100% thankful for my work and business, I am 200% thankful to have a husband and family who love and support me in it.

I am also wildly lucky to have close friends within the wedding industry who are just as supportive, especially ones who have trusted in my designs and vision since before the creation of East Made Event Company.

Before I reached over a thousand Instagram followers, before I had even planned one full wedding, and when my very first styled shoot idea was literally only a color I liked, Love by Serena was one person who truly gave me the nudge and encouragement I needed to feel more confident in pursuing my very own unique ideas and designs. Every time we talk on the phone or see each other in person, we can chat for hours on end about absolutely everything, and I treasure that so much. The most epic time, I think, started with a 4 hour dinner at Woodberry Kitchen in Baltimore and ended with standing in the parking lot chatting for another 2 hours, until even the valet guys went home for the evening.

Serena was kind enough to take some new headshots for me in Charlottesville, Virginia last month, and I love how they turned out. I promise, I will not often post so many photos of myself on this blog but here are a few favorites I wanted to share:

White Off the Shoulder Top: J. Crew (now on sale for $30!) | White Beaded Tassel Earrings: J. Crew | Jeans: Hudson Krista Super Skinny Ankle Jean | Booties: Dolce Vita Haku Mule Bootie

Floral Dress: Anthropologie (sold out but similar here)

Cheers to a restful and relaxing Thanksgiving week, filled with countless things to be thankful for (and all of the food.)
