Katherine and Jared wed at the gorgeous, European-inspired, pastel yellow, luxury wedding venue of Evergreen Museum and Library in Baltimore, Maryland. Located just north of Baltimore City, this gated venue is truly a European oasis.
During their engagement, Jared—in finance—resided in NYC while Katherine—an anesthesiologist— lived in Baltimore. Though separated by work and geography, the couple were united in their love of foreign travel and wanted to use their travels abroad as inspiration for their wedding.
Immediately taken to the French chateau feeling of Evergreen, Elizabeth suggested an infusion of classic French elements into Katherine and Jared’s design while still evoking a modern, New York chic feel. A muted color palette of grey, lavender, cream, and gold enhanced the juxtaposition of these styles and created an underlying mood of calm-cool sophistication.
Katherine and Jared got ready on their wedding morning at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Baltimore, overlooking the Inner Harbor. Katherine’s mom helped her into her Oscar de la Renta gown, which was designed in a traditional silhouette with a modern back-of-skirt flounce detail. She and Jared opted to have a “First Look,” for which the Steelcut and East Made teams collaborated to repurpose their ceremony aisle arrangements on the brick steps of Evergreen, evoking a flower garden feeling for this intimate moment.
Katherine was escorted down the aisle by both of her parents to “Tale as Old As Time,” performed by a live string trio. Jared’s sister officiated the ceremony, infusing thoughtful anecdotes with humor and sentiment. The couple recessed to the classic Stevie Wonder song, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” signaling to guests that their fabulous party was about to begin.
Guests were welcomed to cocktail hour with a “Bonjour bubbly” champagne display and learned of their table seating from a “French flower market” seating vignette, which East Made Co conceptualized and designed with baskets, lavender, and the slogan, “Seat yourself, s’il vous plaît.” The bar menu was also hand-calligraphed on a Provence-inspired ceramic urn to continue the French-feel storyline.
Lovers of history and tradition, the couple also took photos with a vintage Rolls Royce, a nod to parties past that have been held at this historic venue.
One of our favorite moments of the day was when our couple shared their first dance at sunset to “Perfect Duet” by Ed Sheeran and Beyonce.
The 100-guest reception was held adjacent to a former horse stable on the Evergreen property and Steelcut Flower Co adorned the brick walls with greenery, strung greenery, and florals from two focal chandeliers. East Made Co further infused elements of the “France-meets-NYC” theme into the day by creating an elegant French/modern garden party indoors. Guests were greeted with French macarons at each place setting and the bridal party entered to “Everybody” by the Backstreet Boys. Guests packed the dance floor and enjoyed local ice cream as an evening treat, while Vicki Grafton and her team captured retro-inspired cake cutting photos. Katherine and Jared’s wedding was a wonderful and memorable event filled with love, joy and that elegant French je nais se quois.
