620 Loft and Garden Rooftop Wedding in New York City–Jialin & Howard

We absolutely loved designing and planning this whimsical and colorful outdoor rooftop wedding in midtown Manhattan, at premiere New York City wedding venue 620 Loft & Garden. Jialin and Howard are one of the most creative, kind couples we’ve ever partnered with, yearning to innovate on their wedding day and introduce their friends and families to not only an iconic New York City experience, but an artistic one. The couple, who both work in the fashion industry, trusted our partnership completely, and it was so fun to brainstorm and be creative during our planning process together. Jialin and Howard incorporated their Chinese heritage as well, honoring their parents with a tea ceremony, weaving in gold accessories, and even translating some of their paper goods in multiple languages to welcome those from near and far.

Jialin wore a strapless, sweetheart Mira Zwillinger dress for her wedding day portraits with Howard at New York Public Library and for their modern rooftop ceremony, which overlooked Saks Fifth Ave department store. She then changed into a mustard yellow Leanne Marshall gown as a surprise to their guests for their dinner and reception, bowing to their guests upon their entrance. Every element of the day was customized and intentionally chosen, from the cuisine, to the cocktails, to even the guests’ dress code (guests were requested to wear a color in their palette).

The only tiny change in plans happened when the bride forgot to collect her bouquet at the end of the rooftop wedding ceremony, and carry it back down the aisle. I’ll never forget when she turned to us and the photographer and asked, “can I go back for that?” to which we replied, “why not?!” and sure enough, she fluttered back down the aisle to retrieve her gorgeous coral dahlia wedding bouquet. We’re honored to have played a role in Jialin and Howard’s engagement as their wedding planner and designer in bringing them and their guests together for their New York City wedding, and we’ll treasure all of the special moments from this particular wedding forever.
